Write product posts in Urdu with AI

AI can write good Urdu captions, but only if you ask the right way. Here is why direct translations sound stiff, what to tell the AI instead, a prompt you can copy, before-and-after examples and a quick checklist before you post.

خلاصہ: AI سے صرف ترجمہ نہ کروائیں۔ اسے گاہک، پروڈکٹ، صحیح قیمت، پلیٹ فارم اور انداز بتائیں، اپنی کوئی پرانی پوسٹ مثال کے طور پر دیں اور تین آپشن مانگیں۔ پوسٹ کرنے سے پہلے ہر نمبر اور لفظ خود چیک کریں۔

Quick answer

In short: do not ask AI to "translate this into Urdu". Instead, tell it who the customer is, what the product is, the exact price, the platform and the tone, paste one or two of your own past posts as a style example, and ask for three short options in Urdu script or Roman Urdu. Then check every number and word before posting.

Why AI translations sound stiff

When you ask for a translation, AI translates word by word into formal, bookish Urdu. That is fine for a notice, but not for a sale. Real customers write the way they speak: they mix common English words such as order, delivery, size and sale into Urdu, use short lines and talk directly to the reader.

The fix is to ask AI to write for a person, not to translate a text. Give it the facts and the feeling, and let it write the caption from scratch in natural Urdu.

A prompt you can copy

Fill in the brackets and paste it into any AI chat assistant:

You are a social media writer for a small shop in [city]. Write an Instagram caption in natural, everyday [Urdu script / Roman Urdu], the way people in [city] really talk. Do not translate word by word. Keep common English words like order, delivery and size in English. Product: [name, what makes it special] Price: [exact price, e.g. Rs 4,500] Customer: [who buys it] Goal: [e.g. get WhatsApp orders today] Tone: [friendly / premium / festive] Length: 3 to 4 short lines, 1 or 2 emojis, 3 hashtags at the end. Here is one of my past posts for style: [paste a post you liked] Give me 3 different options.

Before and after

Stiff (translated):

یہ ایک اعلیٰ معیار کی لان کی قمیض ہے جو آپ کو گرمیوں کے موسم میں آرام دہ رکھے گی۔

Natural (written with context):

گرمی میں بھی ٹھنڈک کا احساس 🌿
نئی لان کلیکشن آ گئی ہے، نرم کپڑا اور پکے رنگ۔
قیمت صرف Rs 4,500
آرڈر کے لیے ابھی WhatsApp کریں!

The same in Roman Urdu:

Garmi mein bhi thandak ka ehsaas 🌿
Nayi lawn collection aa gayi hai, naram kapra aur pakke rang.
Qeemat sirf Rs 4,500
Order ke liye abhi WhatsApp karein!

Check before you post

  • Numbers: price, sizes, dates and phone number are exactly right.
  • Read it aloud: if it does not sound like something you would say to a customer, ask for a simpler version.
  • Spelling: keep Roman Urdu spellings the same across posts, for example always "order karein".
  • No promises you cannot keep: remove words like "free delivery" or "guaranteed" unless they are true.
  • Design: use an Urdu font such as Noto Nastaliq Urdu in your images and check the text runs right to left.
  • Save your best prompt: once a prompt works, reuse it for every post so your voice stays the same.

Questions

Which AI tool writes the best Urdu?+
Most well-known AI chat assistants can write Urdu and Roman Urdu. The prompt matters more than the tool: give context, an example of your own style and ask for a few options. Try the same prompt in two tools and keep the one that sounds most like you.
Should I write in Urdu script or Roman Urdu?+
Use what your customers use when they message you. Many younger customers in Pakistan and the Gulf write Roman Urdu on WhatsApp and Instagram, while Urdu script often feels warmer for family and traditional products. You can also post both.
Can AI get prices and product details wrong?+
Yes. AI can change numbers, invent features or mix up sizes. Always give it the exact price and details, and check every number before you post.
Will Urdu text look right in Canva or on Instagram?+
Instagram and WhatsApp show Urdu script correctly. In design tools, pick an Urdu font such as Noto Nastaliq Urdu so letters join properly, and check that the text runs right to left.
